Dari Bay has been described as a "perpetually shifting art project posing as songs, an ongoing thought experiment disguised as a band". Launched in 2015 as the solo vehicle of Burlington, VT, United States-based artist Zachary James, Dari Bay's early EPs were often raw and unhinged, but the January 2023 début album, Longest Day of the Year, finds Dari Bay assuming a new form as James folds his experimental spirit into what at first appear to be neutral, unassuming tunes.
